Wine is often known and ordered by grape variety, i.e. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc. The New World (Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, America, etc.) make this easy by putting the grape variety on the bottle normally.
The Old World (France, Italy, etc.) don't always which makes it more complicated and gives us even more to learn! For example a Chablis (from Burgundy in France) is 100% Chardonnay but this will rarely be on the lablel. A Sancerre (from the Loire Valley in France) is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, and it continues...

For example a Bordeuax from France can include a number of different grape varieties, for example Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon but this will rarely be on the lablel. A Barolo from Piedmont in Italy is made from the Nebbiolo grape, and it continues...
