Grape variety, soil composition, climate, production techniques, etc. all contribute to the many thousands of wine varieties that are available. The same applies to coffee. @beansahoy knows that speciality coffee is the same - it's a naturally grown product that has its own set of complexities and is highly susceptible to atmospheric conditions, soils and preparation - like wine.
