PINOT GRIGIO / PINOT GRIS
Quick overview
This grape is called Pinot Grigio (from Italy) or Pinot Gris (from France).
Pinot Grigio is typically dry and acidic with a light body and quite a neutral taste - sometimes of green apple.
Pinot Gris is more full bodied, dry to off dry, with medium acidity - sometimes with hints of tropical fruit favours and a spiciness.
On the grapevine...
Pinot Gris is a major grape variety in Alsace and is one of their 'noble grapes' along with Riesling; Gewürztraminer and Muscat.

More about the grape...
The grape grows best in cool climates and matures relatively. This means that it can lead to either a sweeter wine, of if it's fermented into a dry wine will probably be a wine high in alcohol.
Random information...
Pinot gris or Pinot Grigio is also called Grauburgunder (although very rarely) and is believed to be a mutation of Pinot Noir.
